More recently, the latest recording entitled LuvInIdleness (Sounds Familyre, 2010), a five-song pop anthem produced, arranged and recorded by Sufjan Stevens.  In tandem with the release of LuvinIdleness, Ben + Vesper produced their first music video which was premiered on Stereogum.  Drowned in Sound described the title track in their “Singles of the Week”, describing it as “a terror to type it is heaven to listen to…”  Paste Magazine highlighted LuvinIdleness in their recent “Best of What’s Next” interview with Ben + Vesper.

Ben + Vesper are that musical married couple from NJ.  They are the ones that are dually described as “lightly entwined earthbound angels” and  “two Disneyfied hyenas, yowling at each other.”  However you choose to describe their sound, it’s agreed that Ben + Vesper are a fresh, strange and important voice growing strong in the indie music world.

FossilCities are a fairly mysterious NY duo (at least as far as I can tell) who make beautifully fragile songs that embody a simple purity, but harbor a deeply complex afterglow. The new Oxidation ep is a gorgeous collection of haunting lullabies that deserves repeated listens to resonate fully. The track “Stupid Things” starts with a somber acoustic guitar and sweetly insular vocals, before swelling into a dramatic climax.

Recorded entirely to tape at an all-analogue studio in Manchester, UK and released on vinyl. We have a band fund and day jobs to fund our music but every bit helps. We are traveling halfway across the world for this studio because it is COMPLETELY ANALOGUE and that’s what we believe in. There isn’t a computer in the studio! It’s an amazing studio with a vintage TRIDENT Console, the same used on Lou Reed’s Transformer and David Bowie’s Hunky Dory.”
