The southern New Jersey native began her musical career in the late ’90s and quickly built up a strong word-of-mouth following by playing college campus venues in West Virginia and Philadelphia. Simultaneously, they are expanding their tradition to include distinctly modern elements – new songs, harmonies, and arrangements – and winning a devoted, ever-growing following in the process.

I love a good project. And for me, Marathon is much more than an album with an intimidating bull on the cover. Marathon has been one of my ongoing passions for the past decade — as a concept, a state of mind, a collection of songs and now as a developing theatre project.

After I wrote the songs for Marathon, I collaborated with Richard Isackes on creating a story to accompany them. He wrote a dark series of monologues — mixing deception and revenge, tequila and a few gunshots — and we brought it all together into a dramatic song cycle, with a full band onstage. We’ve experimented over the past couple of years with different approaches, and the Continental Club Gallery in Austin played host over the summer to a series of workshop performances where we refined the production and the script. Marathon continues to evolve, and we’re planning to return to the stage late in 2010 and 2011.

This is the sound of a band who have come to an uncommon understanding of their true strengths, Maddy Prior is in excellent voice and the songs, arrangements and production are as good as Steeleye Span have ever had. Fans can argue about the merits of this album in comparison to their past glories but if anyone was looking for better than this at this stage in their career is kidding themselves this is a damned fine incarnation of this band, Peter Knight is on great form on Fidddle and Rick Kemp’s bass has none of the rather plodding feel that became the Steeleye Span sound around the Mike Batt production era.

With “Give In To Love” birdpaula recomposes the puzzle of her singular and fertile life with an ever-varied musical score always suited to the expression of her true and profound identity: that of a multi-faceted artist in love with freedom. This independence becomes the lever of the catchy songs on the album – as in the cheeky impudence of “Bird Will Fly”, recalling Nancy Sinatra in her heyday.

Josefina Sanner is one of Sweden’s most prolific female singer/songwriters with over 700 written songs. When she now releases her second solo album “Love Case Scenario”, she has drawn inspiration from her childhood landscape. The result is a collection of glittering pop songs that, while being readily available also holding willfulness and exciting secrets and really touch in depth. She and producer Andreas Dahlbäck (who previously collaborated with Anna Ternheim, Thomas Andersson Wiij and Eskobar among others) together have created a minimalistic and enigmatic sound, where Josefina’s unique voice emerges more beautiful and headstrong than ever.
